SongHub Version History: Every Release and What Changed
SongHub Version History — Every Release and What Changed
SongHub ships fast and the changelogs live on the developer's GitHub releases page, which most people never read. Here's the full version story in one place — every release we could verify, what it changed, and which builds actually mattered. The current build is v4.16.67, and you can grab it working from our download page (GitHub downloads have been failing for a lot of users). If you're new here, the homepage has the quick version of what SongHub is.
v4.16.67 — the current build (Oct 15)
This is the one you want. v4.16.67 (Build 416) keeps everything from 4.15.67 and adds three hotfixes the developer shipped the same day: MTV video no longer gets cropped in portrait mode, MTV playback sync and optimization got fixed, and XLS export now uses the XLS 2003 format — which is what Mega Karaoke Songbook actually requires. The developer's own upgrade advice: if you're already on 4.15.67, just go to Settings > Check App Updates inside the app, no reinstall needed. If you're on 3.xx.xx or older (or running a modified APK someone sold you), uninstall it and install this clean — you don't need to touch your SongHub folder contents.
v4.15.67 — the big feature release (Oct 15)
Released hours before v4.16.67, this was the release that changed what SongHub is. The headline features, straight from the developer's notes:
- Prebuilt songfiles: support for both the old and new prebuilt songfile/IDX sets (old: 48,000 songs; new: 42,000 songs) so the app is usable right out of the box.
- Remote Server Host: control SongHub from a browser on iOS or other devices — default port 48081.
- CSV/XLS export: dump your song list for Mega Karaoke Songbook and other apps.
- Recording: type a song number, hit Record, and your performance saves to the SongHub > record folder.
- MTV support in Karaoke mode: drop MTVs or downloaded YouTube karaoke videos into SongHub > videos, enter the code, and sing — with scoring, tempo, and key control.
- Favorite Songs: tap the heart icon on any song to save it; browse them under My Favorite Songs.
- MIDI in ZIP files: drop a .ZIP of MIDI files into SongHub > songs and it scans them automatically — no extraction, no RAR/7z.
- Picture-in-Picture: keep singing while using other apps (needs Android 8+, won't work on 6 or 7).
- TV activation: easy .lic-file activation for Android/Google TV — export to USB, tap Enter Karaoke, select the file, done.
- Backup/restore: save your configurations and bring them back when needed.
- Song Entry Overlay, fanfare/digit sounds, melody default off: the customization bits.
Bugfixes in this build: the remote server connection issue and the EQ having little or no effect. The troubleshooting section also covered the "App is not installed" error (uninstall old or modified builds first) and activation help via the songhub-activation page with your HWID. If any of this is new to you, the install guide walks through setup from zero.
The prebuilt songfiles (Oct 14)
Right before the big release, the developer published the songfile sets themselves as separate releases: the second (and last) prebuilt songfile, which works on build 3.xx.xx and the then-upcoming latest app (not on 2.x.xx), and the original first prebuilt songfile, built for 2.xx.xx (not on 3.x.xx). Both shipped with CSV and XLS songlists importable into Mega Karaoke Songbook. The developer's warning is worth repeating: the songfile is a sample set for making the app usable immediately — future song updates aren't part of it, and modifying, selling, or extracting it for other apps is prohibited.
The October 4 update — activation arrives
A week earlier, a release landed with a blunt message: uninstall the old app and install the new update. It didn't touch user files (except the IDX songfiles), but it introduced something the community had to accept — activation. The developer was direct about why: the app had gone viral, and people were selling the APK, distributing the song list, and turning installations into a business. From that build on, SongHub needs activation. Anyone charging you for the app or for "installation services" is exactly the problem this was aimed at.
The 2.x and 3.x era
Before October 2026, SongHub lived in the 2.x and 3.x builds — the versions that built the app's reputation in the Philippines karaoke community. The songfile releases tell the story: separate builds for 2.xx.xx and 3.xx.xx users, because the formats weren't compatible. If you're running one of these old builds, the developer's advice from the v4.16.67 notes still stands: uninstall and move to the current official build. Your SongHub folder contents carry over. The older versions guide covers the cases where staying on an old build actually makes sense.
Which version should you run?
For almost everyone: v4.16.67, the latest. It's the stable build with every fix. Get it from our download page — the archive mirror that actually completes — and check the file size (~35.6 MB) after downloading. Older builds only make sense in narrow cases: an ancient phone, a specific workflow tied to an old songfile, or a mod you can't give up (in which case, honestly, reconsider — the official builds are free). Version history changes fast in this project, so when in doubt, check the developer's releases page for anything newer than this article.
